Lake Ontario is about nine inches higher than it was last year at this time, but the International Joint Commission says it isn't worried.
In a question-and-answer news release, the IJC points to previous years when the lake was at this level in January without consequences.
A spokesperson for the IJC told Syracuse.com there are "no obvious lessons of things that need to be done differently."
Whether there will be flooding is dependent on the rainfall.
