Conspiracy theory linking Fairport murder-suicide to Las Vegas attack is fake

A blog posting on social media that has been shared thousands of times on Facebook seems to link the Fairport man who committed a murder-suicide last week to the Las Vegas shooter.

Dozens of you have reached out to us asking if it's true.

The blog claimed John Beilman was tied to the Las Vegas shooter through a battery charger, found in the hotel room of Stephen Paddock.

It claimed Beilman developed the technology while working at a Newark company that makes communications systems for the government. The FBI won't comment on this at all but my sources say this is a conspiracy theory and is absolutely not true.

John Beilman's home was searched by the FBI the day before he killed his daughter and himself, but the investigation was isolated to that home and had no connection whatsoever to the Las Vegas shooting.  So, if you see that story circulating on social media, ignore it.
