BROCKPORT, N.Y. (WHEC) — Brockport Central School District Superintendent Lesli Myers-Small, Ed.D. will be leaving her post to accept a new job with the New York State Education Department.

In her new role, Myers-Small will support and oversee the turnaround of low-achieving schools across the state.
"While I am very excited about this opportunity, I will greatly miss the Brockport Central School District, my colleagues, staff and students," Myers-Small said in a statement.
Myers-Small is scheduled to leave her post in January, with an interim superintendent to be named by the Brockport Central School Board.
Also on Tuesday, University of Rochester graduate Shannon Tahoe was named as the acting New York State Education Commissioner.
Tahoe will begin her new position on November 16. She has worked in the New York State Education Department since 2006.
