GENESEO, N.Y. (WHEC) — A Livingston County Jail inmate was arrested and charged with felony assault.

Livingston County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a fight between two inmates on Nov. 25.

The Sheriff’s Office said an investigation by members of the jail division found two inmates fought, resulting in one inmate throwing the other to the ground, causing an injury.

Deputies say they identified the aggressor as 22-year-old Dakota Sarfaty, who is being held on federal charges of second degree assault.

The sheriff’s office said Sarfaty was previously arrested three other times since he was booked in July 2019, and all three times were for promoting prison contraband.

Sarfaty was arraigned and the judge remanded him back into the custody of the Sheriff.

Sarfaty previously admitted to the theft of more than 90 guns from Chinappi's firearms in Parma.

He pleaded guilty to two separate burlgaries of the location in August 2018.
