The District Attorney's Office says that in March of 2017 Belgian Federal Police contacted U.S. officials about a U.S. citizen that they had become aware of was involved in the possession and distribution of child pornography.

A Belgian citizen told police that an individual he knew as "Bob" paid him money in exchange for images and videos of child pornography on several occasions. The investigation revealed that “Bob” was Matacale.

An August 28, 2017 investigation of Matacale's home and devices revealed that Matacale was contacting another individual with two daughters, ages four and six, for naked photos of the children, stating that they would be used for research.

The individual sent Matacale approximately a dozen photos between September 2016 and February 2017.

Law enforcement also recovered online conversations between the 43-year-old and a 16-year-old from Vermont. Officials say the girl had sent naked pictures of herself on several occasions to Matacale.

Matacale was sentenced to 25 years in prison for the charges.
