The Danielle Downey Credit Union Classic begins later this week, but on Monday a number of golfers were out on the course for a pro-am with local girls.

The Future Women of Golf Pro-Am pairs pros on the Symetra Tour with area high school golfers with the hopes of inspiring the next generation of female golfers.

It's an event that is showing beneficial signs and is enjoyed by both the pros and the high schoolers.

"I think that it's super cool," said Jayde Ford, a sophomore at Pittsford Sutherland, "because it's in Rochester, and they come in from all over and are good golfers! I have Lindsey McCurdy out there with me, we call her Birdie McCurdy, and she's super helpful. She's giving me lots of tips, not only with golf but with college, and its going to be really helpful."

"I was so excited to do this," said McCurdy, a Symetra Tour golfer, "It's so fun getting to know people in the local community, especially the high school girls. It's a good way to see the course but have a little fun doing it. It's been a lot of fun."
