Local schools canceling weekend events ahead of storm

(WHEC) - Rochester area schools are canceling weekend events ahead of the forecasted winter storm this weekend.

The Rochester Central School District has canceled all afternoon and evening activities on Saturday.

The Penfield Central School District, Honeoye Falls-Lima and Pittsford Schools announced Friday morning that all activities scheduled to begin after 4 p.m. on Saturday have been canceled.

Campuses will remain closed through the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Monday and re-open for school on Tuesday. 

Schools also experiencing closures due to the weather include:

  • West Irondequoit Central School District buildings will be closed from 3 p.m. Saturday until Tuesday morning. All activities during that time are canceled.
  • The college at Brockport has canceled all athletic events for Saturday, January 19.
  • The Churchville-Chili School District and all activities will be closed beginning at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
  • Livonia Central School is closing campus starting at 3 p.m. on Saturday through 12 p.m. on Monday. All activities and events during this time are canceled.
  • The Hochstein School's annual open house, Musical Mystery Tour, scheduled for Sunday at 2 p.m. is canceled.
