ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Nearly four dozen vets and just as many local students left for a trip Wednesday that they'll remember for a lifetime.

44 World War II veterans and 44 students from Midlakes are heading to the the National World War II Museum in New Orleans as part of the Gary Sinise Foundation's "Soaring Valor" event.

News10NBC was there for the special send-off ceremony at the Greater Rochester International Airport.

The Gary Sinise Foundation also sponsors an additional historian at the museum to help collect as many stories from World War II veterans as possible.
