Maine resident arrested for vehicular assault in Ontario County

A man from Maine was arrested in Ontario County on Friday for a hit-and-run in the Town of Hopewell.

According to the Ontario County Sheriff's Office, first responders found a 32-year-old laying in the parking lot of the Applebee's on Recreation Drive around 4:45 a.m. on Friday. The victim, Jesse J. Gettings of Prattsburgh, was complaining of leg and internal injuries. Witnesses at the scene told deputies that a 2002 Ford Ranger pickup truck had intentionally struck Gettings, throwing him several feet and causing his injuries before fleeing east on State Route 5 and 20.

The vehicle was found later at a Wendy's in the Town of Geneva by the Geneva Police Department, and the operator, 30-year-old Keir A. Grosse-Rhode, was detained for the investigation before being officially taken into custody for Assault in the 1st Degree. The resident of Brewer, Maine was arraigned at the Ontario County Jail and he will appear in the Town of Hopewell Court at a later date to answer charges.

Gettings was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment. A part of Recreation Drive was shut down for about three hours during the investigation.
