A serious of fights sent people running through the mall for safety. Some stores closed their security gates after initial reports of gun shots

Two people were arrested but several young teens were taken into custody.

Cheektowaga Police Chief David Zacks says the fight put hundreds of people at risk. The mall is now increasing security by adding more off-duty officers on patrol.

The Walden Galleria may also expand the MB-18 chaperone policy, which requires anyone under the age of 18 to be with an adult on weekend nights. The policy was not in effect Wednesday or Thursday nights, according to the mall security office.

Cheektowaga Police officials are in discussions with Galleria officials about enforcing the chaperone policy year-round, but that decision is up to the mall's management.
