Man admits to leaving scene of crash; bicyclist seriously injured

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) -- A 26-year-old man will now serve time in prison after admitting to leaving the scene of an accident that left a bicyclist seriously injured.  

Carl Amesbury pleaded guilty Thursday to leaving the scene of an accident resulting in a serious physical injury.

On Oct. 26, 2018, prosecutors say a 25-year-old man was riding a bicycle down Chili Avenue when Amesbury hit him with his Ford pickup truck. 

Amesbury did not slow down or stop in an effort to avoid the man, according to prosecutors. 

As a result of the accident, the 25-year-old suffered a truamatic brain injury and several skull fractures. 

Amesbury will serve between one to three years in prison and is scheduled to be sentenced in June.
