A 46-year-old Olean man is under arrest in Wyoming County after he punched and kicked an Attica Police Officer after a car accident on Thursday.

According to the Wyoming County Sheriff's Office, David F. Woods Jr. had been in a car accident on Dunbar Road in Attica where his car had ended up in a ditch. An Attica Police officer and members of the Attica Fire Department attempted to aid Woods, only for him to refuse medical treatment. While awaiting the arrival of deputies, Woods punched the Attica Police Officer in the face. The officer responded by tasing Woods, and a struggle then ensued.

Thanks to the help of nearby firefighters, Woods was taken into custody, and was then placed under arrest when deputies arrived. While Woods was being placed into the back seat of a County Sheriff's Office vehicle, however, he kicked at the Attica officer, injuring his knee.

Woods was transported to the Sheriff's Office where he refused to take a drug test. He now faces a long list of charges including Assault in the Second Degree, Attempted Assault in the Third Degree, Obstructing Governmental Administration in the Second Degree, Resisting Arrest as well as DWI and other drug and traffic charges.

Woods was arraigned in Town of Attica Court where bail was set at $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond. He is scheduled to reappear in Town of Attica Court on May 7 for further proceedings.
