On Wednesday, U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested three people after their jet ski got stuck on the ice off the shoreline of Beaver Island State Park near Buffalo.

Dos Santos Freitas got off the jet ski and was able to walk to the shoreline to approach the agents. Dos Santos Freitas told the agents that he was a permanent resident of Canada and that he did not have any immigration documentation, allowing him to legally enter the U.S.

He was then placed under arrest.

The other two occupants, identified as Angelo Valentim-Zuccolotto, a citizen of Brazil, and Andria Raposo-Marte, a citizen of the Dominican Republic, were also arrested.

According to federal prosecutors,  Raposo-Marte was "frozen in fear" and did not get off the jet ski. She then had to be rescued by the Grand Island Fire Department in an inflatable boat.

Valentim-Zuccolotto and Raposo-Marte are subject to administrative proceedings.
