News10NBC has learned that a man was killed following a stabbing at a home in Gates early Monday morning.

Police were called to Crerand Commons on Coccia Crescent -- which is off Lyell Road, west of Elmgrove Road -- around 4:30 a.m. for the stabbing.

Officers say the victim, a 28-year-old transgender man, suffered a "fatal stab wound" but the incident is being investigated as a domestic dispute. Police add that a 40-year-old female is in custody at this time.

A news conference is scheduled for Tuesday where more information will be released.

"Scared, I'm scared," says Joanne Enright, neighbor. "I'm petrified here absolutely petrified."

Enright says the bloody scene at the apartment next door traumatized her and neighbors have been trying to comfort her.

She adds, "When I looked over, I saw a body on the ground with the arms up in the head right in the grass. And I said "oh my God," someone's lying there."

Several neighbors report hearing shouting and screaming in the past. Joanne Enright says the violence was impossible to ignore.

"The noise woke me up: the swearing and it was constant," she says, "things going against the wall. It was just very nerve-racking."

She concludes, "There was blood all over. That's when I went in and called 911."
