MCSO K-9 and handler headed to Super Bowl LIII

A Monroe County Sheriff's Deputy and his K-9 partner are headed to the Super Bowl.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has selected Deputy Ryan Fisher and K-9 Lola to be a part in the security detail at Super Bowl LIII in Atlanta, Georgia on February 3.

“We are both excited and honored for Deputy Fisher and Lola to provide support and protection during one of America’s favorite pastimes and most popular sporting events, the Super Bowl,” said Sheriff Todd K. Baxter. “The lessons learned, training, and knowledge that Deputy Fisher and Lola will gain through this experience will only strengthen our K-9 team and the Sheriff’s Office as a whole.”

Deputy Fisher has ten years of experience including eight years at the Monroe County Sheriff's Office. 

Lola, a 5-year-old German Shepherd is trained in explosive detection.
