Missing child alert issued for Ontario County father and baby

The missing Ontario County father and his infant son were found safe in Virginia on Friday.

The Ontario County Sheriff's Office continues to search for a missing 18-month-old boy who was last seen with his father Thursday night.

Deputies are searching for 36-year-old Leroy Newswanger and his son, Glenn Newswanger, both of Stanley. In an alert, the Sheriff's Office said that Leroy has an extensive mental health history.

Ontario County Sheriff Phil Povero is expected to hold a news conference at 11 a.m. Friday.

A source tells News10NBC that Leroy has been very fired up recently about a political issue and both could be heading to Washington, D.C.

The missing pair were last seen at Lyons National Bank in Penn Yan around 11 a.m Thursday morning. Leroy withdrew $300 at that time.

Deputies say Leroy was driving a dark blue 2005 Chevy Silverado with dents in the right front passenger door and rear bumper. The truckhas the New York registration number: 88359 MJ.

Deputies said that Glenn has hand, foot and mouth disease and has blisters around his mouth.

Leroy is 5'11" and weighs 180 pounds. He has brown eyes, black hair, a light complexion and was last seen wearing a maroon button-up shirt.

Glenn is 2" tall and weighs 25 pounds. He has brown eyes and brown hair. He was last seen wearing tan khaki pants, black sneakers, plaid shirt, and a navy winter coat.
