The Monroe County Democratic Committee says two black women -- Zuleika Shepard and Fatimat Reid -- are running for two open seats on the county's family court.
Shepard currently works as a deputy county attorney for the County Law Department. Reid is chief of staff of the Rochester City School District.
The group says it's been more than 30 years since a candidate of color was elected to serve as a judge in the county.
Shepard and Reid could become the first black women to be elected to family court.
The Republicans announced Nicole Bayly and Alecia Mazzo as their family court nominees in January.
