Monroe County, which includes Henrietta, is still reportedly in the running for IKEA’s new location that may be coming to Western New York.

However, a town just about an hour to the east of Rochester may not be under consideration.

According to a new report from the Finger Lakes Times, Seneca County leaders believe Tyre got rejected by IKEA.

All the buzz over IKEA started late last month when News10NBC learned the world's largest furniture retailer, with its cult-like following among customers, has been sending teams to scout sites for a new location in the Rochester region.

Seneca County officials say they are not even on IKEA’s radar. They reached out to the company again but did not get a response.

One thing going against them is the fact Tyre does not have a major airport. The town does have a new casino and a large outlet mall nearby. But according to county leaders, that was not enough.

Meanwhile, Henrietta is close to an airport and the interstate. It also sits between Buffalo and Syracuse.

There’s still no word on a timeframe for IKEA's decision but many are hopeful Monroe County will be selected.
