(NBC) — The Centers for Disease Control’s latest numbers say 2,051 people have the vaping-related lung illness that the organization has named EVALI.

The term is short for “E-cigarette or Vaping product use Associated Lung Injury.”

The cases are all in the United States, Washington D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

So far, 39 deaths have been confirmed in 24 states as well as the nation’s capital.

According to the CDC’s report, most patients have reported a history of vaping products that contain THC.
