ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A Rochester City School Board member is planning a run for the 137th District Assembly seat.
Natalie Sheppard, the commissioner of schools for the school board, announced her candidacy on Thursday.
She was elected commissioner of schools for RCSD in 2017 and is a licensed social worker.
The seat is currently held by Assemblyman David Gantt.
The 137th District includes the northeastern and southwestern sections of the City of Rochester and the town of Gates.
