ROCHESTER, N.Y (WHEC) --A local college is looking to continue its pursuit of religious pluralism following a $500,000 donation.
The William and Sheila Konar Foundation made the donation to Nazareth College in order for the university to create the Konar Center for Tolerance and Jewish Studies at the College.
"Our foundation is pleased to support Nazareth's Center for Tolerance and Jewish Studies," said Howard Konar, a trustee of the Foundation. "This initiative builds on the College's current work fostering interfaith understanding and civic engagement. We hope our support will help strengthen and expand programs for students and the community promoting cross-cultural awareness, tolerance, and a deeper understanding of Judaism."
The center is expected to promote cross-cultural awareness and deeper understanding of Judaism for students and members of the Rochester community.
