IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. (WHEC) — Neighbors in a local town are going to vote on a plan to put a community center in the old Irondequoit Mall now called Skyview on the Ridge.

Town Supervisor Dave Seeley says a plan for a new community center has been finalized. Voters will now decide if it moves forward.

The 43,000 square foot project will go next to the former Macy's site. It would include a gym with an elevated track, fitness center, additional community meeting space, teen space, and multi-use athletic space with artificial turf.

The plan is expected to cost about $8.5 million.

A referendum, expected to be set for July 30, will ask for voter approval to bond more than $7 million to finance the project.
