Neighbors unsettled following attempted murder in Riga

Things have pretty much quieted down for the moment at the home in Riga where 75-year-old Florence Ford was found unresponsive.

The home on Leibeck Road, however, is still taped off with a deputy posted out front.

News10NBC spoke with a few neighbors following the murder in Penfield and the attempted murder of Florence, and all of them tell us they're not only shocked but that it's unsettling to know this happened right next to where they live.

Some neighbors were home Tuesday night through Wednesday, but none of them heard or saw anything unusual or suspicious. They described Ford as quiet but sweet, friendly and always waiving.

One neighbor, in particular, met the son who investigators identified as 52-year-old Arnold Ford Jr. and never expected anything like this.

"I met him a couple times," explained Larry Batz, neighbor. "We'd seen him come and go, never heard arguing. Everything was quiet. I checked on my neighbor all the time and to have that happen right next door is hard to believe."

Batz tells News10NBC that he hopes to visit his neighbor in the hospital.

As the investigation continues, police encourage anyone with information to give them a call.
