ALBANY, N.Y. (WHEC) — The New York State DMV and DEC are both reminding drivers to be alert of deer and moose.
The fall months are when deer and moose are most active, they say.
Two-thirds of crashes between deer and cars happen during the three-month span, and drivers should also be alert for moose on roadways in the Adirondacks and surrounding areas this time of year.
Anyone encountering an animal is urged to brake firmly but not to swerve. If you do hit an animal, stay away and call police.
