Rochester and Buffalo made a combined pitch to Amazon to locate its second headquarters in our area. With its new HQ, Amazon is promising to bring 50,000 new jobs to whatever city wins.

We were told a decision wouldn't be made until sometime next year, but according to social media western New York is out of the running.

But is it news or noise?

In September, the retail giant kicked off its hunt for a second home, dubbed HQ2. Moody's recently ranked Rochester as the fourth best option for Amazon, ahead of Pittsburgh, Miami and Boston.

But look at all these headlines stating Amazon chose San Diego. The headlines were followed by tweets.

Mike tweeted: "Way to go San Diego...America's Finest City. Amazon chooses San Diego, CA for HQ2"

Even businesses were tweeting their excitement. Grah Safe and Lock located in San Diego tweeted: "Amazon chooses San Diego as HQ2. Potential for 50K jobs."

Here's what's true: in September, Amazon did sign a lease for a new office in San Diego. However, Amazon has not made any announcement about where its second headquarters will be located.

So don't give up just yet Rochester because Amazon has not chosen any city yet, making this claim all NOISE.
