ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — News10NBC and 92.5 WBEE are teaming up for BEE A Hero Day!
It's a fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Rochester. The group provides a home-away-from-home to families, while children receive medical care.
As part of this week's Rochester in Focus, News10NBC's Brennan Somers met the group's president and CEO to see some of the great work they do every single day.
"We take care of the basic needs everyone has to live their life -- food, transportation, lodging, "Kelly McCormick-Sullivan said. "But when you dig a little deeper, there are families that are coming to Rochester because of the topnotch pediatric care that we have. And without Ronald McDonald House, they wouldn't be able to come here because they'd have no place to stay."
Bee A Hero Day is June 21. We're asking you to donate by phone or online. News10NBC be live all day starting at 5 a.m. on News10NBC Today.
"We are 100% fundraising which a lot of people don't realize," McCormick-Sullivan said. "Unlike a lot of other community agencies that get reimbursed from either an insurance company, the state or federal government, we are literally funded by our community. Every dollar we raise in Rochester stays in Rochester to support the families right here."
