ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Four members of the News10NBC team will participate in the 2019 Rochester Marathon Relay. We're proud to be a sponsor of the Rochester Marathon.

Brennan Somers joined the News10NBC team in October 2017. He currently reports for News10NBC Today, anchors News10NBC at Noon, and hosts Rochester in Focus.

He'll be joined by Breland Moore, Charles Molineaux and Pat Taney on race day.

Here are a few fun running-related facts about Brennan.

Years running: 16

Why I started running: Began with playing club soccer and then moving up to regional teams. We were traveling/playing in tournaments 50 weeks out of the year so it was always important to have a good running schedule. Once I stopped playing soccer in college, running just became my go-to for staying in shape.

Why I’m running the Rochester Marathon Relay: (Because I’m already in a promo so I’m committed! JK) I’m excited to be part of a team training for this and to also be involved in an important event for #Roc. I also haven’t pushed myself to do runs longer than 4-5 miles lately so this will be a challenge.

Previous races: 5Ks, half in Myrtle Beach, I’ll also throw in the Cooper Test. In college, our soccer team’s version was 2 miles/12 minutes and you had to beat that before you could join regular practice.

Personal record for a marathon: Never competed in a full marathon but in 2014 I ran the half in Myrtle Beach in 1:50:57. That was much faster than we even trained!

What’s your goal for the Marathon Relay: It’s simple. I want to finish it and not have any shin splints or stress fractures. I’ll meet you all at the beer truck at the end.
