BRIGHTON, N.Y. (WHEC) — In an instant, it's over.
"You just push away all your thoughts and do the dive and once you hit the water it's so peaceful under the water, it's serene," says Brighton senior diver Alice Diakova.
She’s a team captain this year, was an All-American last year, and she absolutely loves her sport.
"It's very interesting at first, it's definitely crazy and chaotic when you're in the air because you can't really control it, but when you get used to it, it's peaceful even though it happens in a split second."
Alice has been able to master those split seconds. Next year, she plans to dive in college at the Division I level while studying computer science.
"My goal after college is to work for Google, Apple or some large software company," she says.
In the meantime she'll put on quite the show, congratulations Alice Diakova, the News10NBC Scholar Athlete of the Week!
