SPENCERPORT, N.Y. (WHEC) — It’s a tradition of success and one of the most dominant programs in the country over the past few seasons.

The Spencerport girls soccer team won two of the last three state championships, and this year their goalie is Cat Wall.

"Being in goal, I'm more of a leader," Wall said. “I have more of a voice back there."

Wall was a Swiss Army knife of sorts for the Rangers over the past few seasons, playing all over the field. This year, she was voted captain.

"It's really special just to know that other girls on the team look up to me as someone who's a role model to them," she said.

The National Honor Society member is a role model off the field as well. She's already verbally committed to play lacrosse at Canisius next season, and is the social chair of the student council. Her activities are noticed by younger girls in the community.

"It is really special sometimes, taking a step back and realizing how big it really is," Wall said. "Just to be a part of it, at a pasta dinner a little girl came up to me and said I was an inspiration, and it's heartwarming to know what I do has an impact on them."

An impact that will be felt for years to come.

Congratulations Cat Wall, the News10NBC Scholar Athlete of the Week!
