ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Four members of the News10NBC team will participate in the 2019 Rochester Marathon Relay. We're proud to be a sponsor of the Rochester Marathon.

A TV news veteran with more than three decades in the business, Charles Molineaux joined the News10NBC team in January of 2017.

He'll be joined by Breland Moore, Brennan Somers and Pat Taney on race day.

Here are a few fun running-related facts about Charles.

Years running: 23 years. Wait…  23? Yup. Well… I did a little in college back when dinosaurs roamed the earth, but I really started in 1996.

Why I started running: New Orleans was the land of stupefyingly grand eating, drinking and letting the good times roll. I switched from weights to running because I desperately needed to drop some lbs. The whole area is also very flat which made it easy to go from 2 miles to 4, to 5. The ups and downs and beautiful scenery around Rochester make for lots of great training route. Trails, parks, the canal… this is great country to run.

Why I’m running the Rochester Marathon Relay: We’re a team! #RuntheROC is a great event and cause. And there’s nothing that can motivate you to get out and push yourself like joining a team working for a challenging goal. (Especially when some of my teammates are longtime athletes, and all of them are younger than me!)

And there’s nothing like the rush driving you to do better in front of the crowds, and the other runners, on race day.

Have you run any races before: I’ve done loads of 5Ks and 10Ks, few as challenging as the frigid wintertime Freezeroo Series runs around Rochester.

Personal record for a marathon: I’ve run the New York Marathon three times and never broke 4 hours. I did manage to do about 4:10 once.

What’s your goal for the Marathon Relay: Not embarrass myself…? Finish… standing up? Do my part to improve the team’s time (gulp!) Celebrate with something cold afterward… Wait… did somebody say there’d be beer?
