LEWISTON, N.Y. (WHEC) — Niagara University's swim coach has resigned in the wake of a sexual harassment lawsuit.

A university spokesman says the coach, Ben Nigro, left his job last week.

Nigro was blamed in a lawsuit filed by female swimmers that claimed he was aware of but did nothing to stop sexual harassment, verbal abuse, and body-shaming by swimmers on the men's team.

Niagara University released a statement saying their priority is the well-being of every student and they can't comment on ongoing legal matters.
