Police are investigating after a tip jar was taken from Nick Tahou's on Friday.

The restaurant says the jar was taken sometime Friday afternoon by 27-year-old city resident Dale Johnson. He was arrested for petit larceny.

The restaurant says the money is used to put on an annual Christmas party for children in the neighborhood. In the past, the restaurant has given out hundreds of gifts to Rochester kids.

It's not clear how much money was taken Friday.

"Unfortunately, it's happened two or three times which isn't a lot considering that's out there every day unguarded," says Alex Tahou, owner. "The sad part this time is, number one, people watched him and didn't say anything or react. Number two, this is a guy for the last couple months we've been feeding the last couple days because he comes in saying he doesn't have any money, any food."

Alex says it won't affect the kids or the party.
