The baby has since been released to foster care.

"As a parent, it hits everyone in the Nunda Police Department and in the community of Nunda very hard. It's hard to fathom someone harming a child at this young age," says Nunda Police Chief Jeffrey Wilcox.

Police say Hyde is a parolee from August of 2014. He is in the Livingston County Jail and will be arraigned Tuesday morning.

The Nunda Police Department, the New York State Police, the Livingston County District Attorney’s Office, U.R. Medicine,  the Bivona Child Advocacy Center, Livingston County Child Protective Services, and the Livingston County Crime Victim’s Coordinator were all involved in the investigation.
