ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — An upstate New York congresswoman is now calling for an independent investigation into sexual assault allegations against Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

Republican Representative Elise Stefanik says New Yorkers deserve a governor who lives up to his own public statements on sexual harassment. During the "Me-Too Movement," the governor was quoted as saying: "The brave women who chose to come forward deserve swift and definitive justice in this matter."

Lindsey Boylan, a former aide to the governor said in a series of tweets Sunday that Cuomo made inappropriate comments about her appearance while working for his team. When asked about the allegations this week, Cuomo said they were not true.

Boylan did not provide details of the alleged harassment.
