ALBANY, N.Y. (WHEC) — Education officials from across the state are now saying that districts need more money in order to reopen safely.

The New York School Boards Association surveyed members all over the state. They want to get children back into the classroom but fear there isn't enough money to do it.

It could cost the average school district about $1.8 million to reopen safely.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo reiterated on Wednesday that if the federal government doesn’t include more aid to states, he would have to cut school funding by 20%.
