NEW YORK (WHEC) -- A bill passed the New York Senate Friday to help limit robocalls throughout the state.
The bill would require telephone service providers to offer free call mitigation technology to customers.
It also requires prior consent to receive robocalls and promises strong enforcement.
The FCC recently ruled that providers may block unwanted robocalls by default.
The legislation is now in the hands of the Assembly.
