NEW YORK (WHEC) — To avoid the technical issues experienced last week, the second and final round of federal Lost Wages Assistance (LWA) payments for unemployed New Yorkers will be distributed over a number of days this week.

If you were told you pre-qualified for LWA benefits, the New York State Department of Labor will release your payments on the following days:

  • If you submit your certification after 5 p.m. on Tue. Sept. 22: DOL will release all LWA benefits you are eligible for on a rolling basis starting Fri. Sept. 25.

The federal government has made funding available for a total of 6 weeks for benefit weeks ending Aug. 2, Aug. 9, Aug. 16, Aug. 23, Aug. 30 and Sept. 6. Eligible New Yorkers will receive $300 for each of those weeks that they were unemployed AND received unemployment benefits.

If you haven’t received any LWA payments and believe you’re entitled to the money, you may need to recertify for certain weeks to claim it. The number to call is 833-491-0632.
