ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — There's been an uptick in the number of New York drivers who are hitting electric poles, and the concern has gotten so big that the New York Stage Electric and Gas Corporation (NYSEG) is joining forces with AAA to remind everyone about the dangers of distracted driving.
Accidents that involve electric poles and power lines are especially dangerous for those involved as well as the first responders at the scene.
NYSEG urges drivers to stay off your phone while driving.
If you're in an accident where there are fallen power lines, NYSEG leaders urge you to stay inside your car and don't get out until emergency responders tell you it's safe
