NYSEG and RG&E set up emergency offices and road crews across Rochester area

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) -- Local utility companies, NYSEG and RG&E, are keeping an eye on weather conditions as they prepare for hurricane force winds exptected to hit the area by Sunday afternoon.

NYSEG and RG&E have staffed seven emergency offices from Sodus to Lancaster and have assigned municipal road clearing crews to county emergency operations centers. More than 2,000 line, tree and service and support personnel have been preparing and are now in place in anticipation of the wind storm.

The power utilities also mobilized damage assessors along with wire guard and dry ice and bottled water distribution teams. Distribution locations will be posted to respective websites.

Customers may also sign up at the NYSEG and RG&E websites for outage alerts  to receive updates throughout the day by phone, text or email.
