OGDEN, N.Y. (WHEC) -- An Ogden intersection will be getting safety improvements following a study by the New York State Department of Transportation.

The agency completed a three-year, six-month crash summary at the request of Monroe County Legislator Mike Zale on the intersection of Route 259, also known as Union Street, and Whittier Road.

The study found an average of four crashes per year at the intersection.

A study found stop signs in the area were reaching the end of their useful life.

New York State Department of Transportation staff decided to install additional "Cross Traffic Does Not Stop" warning signs to the existing "STOP" signs. Staff will also install a reduced speed limit ahead warning sign in the southbound direction of the intersection.
