We continue to honor this year's ESL Jefferson Award winners. The award recognizes those who volunteer their time to make our community a better place. Today we meet a third grader who's become an inspiration.
Nine-year-old Olivia Caiazzo serves and cooks at the Avon Senior Nutrition Program. “Yesterday I made a casserole for them and a dessert.” She cleans and most importantly she makes them laugh and gives them hugs.
She started two years ago. She said, “One day my mom asked me if I wanted to help her and Is aid sure.” And Olivia hasn't stopped since during school breaks and even during the summer.
Her mother, Nichole Caiazzo said, “She does this on her own She asks me, ‘Mom can we go to the nutrition center today’ and when I tell her we can't she is disappointed.”
Cat Jensen is the program’s manager. She said, “She comes down here on her own accord she asks her parents to come down here. She's always helpful always volunteering. She's going to be somebody special when she grows up.”
We think she already is! Congratulations Olivia!
