Investigators say after the shooting, her brother, 22-year-old Casey Murphy of Canandaigua, used the shotgun to repeatedly hit the victim in the head.

Deputies arrested and charged the Murphy siblings with second-degree assault.

The victim, whose name has not yet been released, was transported to Clifton Springs Hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.

Both were held on pre-arraignment detention and will answer the charges at a later date.
