Opening statements in Xerox FCU robbery/shooting trial set for Thursday

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Opening statements are scheduled for Thursday in the trial against Richard Wilbern, the man charged in a deadly robbery/shooting in Webster in 2003.

Wilbern is accused of shooting two people during his robbery of the Xerox Federal Credit Union in October 2003. One man, Raymond Batzel, was killed.


A jury was seated in the trial on Tuesday. Wilbern evaded police for 13 years before his capture in 2016.
