FAIRPORT, N.Y. (WHEC) — Monroe #1 BOCES in Fairport is being sued by the parents of one of its students.
According to the lawsuit, the parents claim the district is not accepting their son's medical exemption from having to be vaccinated.
In a letter sent to the parents, the principal says that the district physician reviewed the medical exemption request and says it did not meet guidelines that the district must follow.
The State Legislature got rid of the religious exemption in June. That decision came amid the nation's worst measles outbreak since 1992. However, all states allow medical exemptions.
