Paychex research shows growing importance of well-being to employees

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — New research shared by Paychex Wednesday shows the growing importance of support for employee well-being.

When looking for employment opportunities, more than 60% of the employees surveyed say well-being is a top priority.

This data comes at a time when there's an increased demand for employees. 

The survey also shows what employees are struggling with most and what's most important to their well-being.

Twenty-nine percent said financial well-being, 24% said mental/emotional well-being, 17% said physical well-being, 17% said social well-being and 13% said career well-being.

Employees said their employers could help improve their employees’ wellbeing by offering better mental health benefits (29%), offering better health insurance (28%), having more adequate staffing (28%), and offering better financial wellness training and benefits (27%).

The survey also showed some distinct differences in how different generations rated their current wellbeing, with 63% of baby boomers rating their well-being as good or very good and 8% rating their well-being as poor or very poor, 63% of Gen Xers rating their well-being as good or very good and 12% rating their well-being as poor or very poor compared to 56% of millennials rating their well-being as good or very good and 18% rating their well-being as poor or very poor and 55%of Gen Zers rating their well-being as good or very good and 19% rating their well-being as poor or very poor.
