PARMA, N.Y. (WHEC) — The amount of digital evidence in the case against a music teacher and owner of the Close School of Music is so great, his lawyer had to ask to have his hearing postponed.

Philip Close was arrested last Monday after a hidden camera was found in a bathroom at the Close School of Music in Parma.

He was charged with second degree unlawful surveillance and production of child pornography after the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI say they found images and videos in his computer.

Close is currently in Livingston County Jail, and his hearing to see if he can get out isn’t until mid-January.

In Federal Court Tuesday morning, Close’s lawyer said a “sizeable amount of media was seized,” so they need more time before they can argue that Close should get out of jail.

Chief Investigative Reporter Berkeley Brean asked the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office how many parents have called the tipline to report that their child took lessons at the Close School of Music.

The Sheriff’s spokesman said they were told by the U.S. Attorney’s Office, “not to disclose the number of calls that have come into the tip line, as that information is now part of the investigation.”

But the Sheriff’s Office did say it, “has received multiple calls to the tip line and we continue to encourage any past or present clients of the Close School of Music to call the tip line with information.”

The number to call is 585-753-4175.
