Four teens charged with gang assault after 'unprovoked' attack

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) -- Police have released the names of two of the teens charged in a random and unprovoked attack in downtown Rochester. 

Xavier Lopez, 17, Brandon Purdie, 19, and two unidentified 16-year-olds are charged with gang assault in the first degree. The attorney for Lopez tells News10NBC this case has been turned over to a Monroe County grand jury.

Police say the teens attacked Kevin House of Rochester and streamed it on Facebook Live. The alleged attack happened near Clinton Avenue and Main Street around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. 

Court papers state the teens repeatedly punched and kicked House in his face. He was taken to the hospital with serious head injuries but he is expected to survive. 

Both teens entered a plea of not guilty and are being held in the Monroe County Jail.  

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
