ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A State Supreme Court Judge granted the Rochester Police Locust Club an injunction against the Police Accountability Board that removes the board’s disciplinary powers.
The stipulated injunction will last for a minimum of six months.
It grants the PAB the ability to investigate complaints of police misconduct, but they may not receive information or materials from the Rochester Police Department, compel testimony or discipline officers until the lawsuit by the police union is resolved.
The nine members of the police accountability board were confirmed last week.
The board’s first meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at City Hall on Tuesday night.
The Locust Club said it will not comment at this time.
The City of Rochester released the following statement:
“On behalf of Mayor Warren, though we appreciate Judge Ark’s offer to assist, in deference to the city voters who participated in the referendum process, we would prefer to have Judge Ark rule on Local Law #2, as adopted by City Council, and then reassess our options to the extent appropriate.”
