Police have identified the woman found dead in the backyard of a home on Weld Street earlier this week as 49-year-old Aronda McKnight.
The Rochester Police Department is calling this case an unattended death but the 49-year-old's family is questioning how she was killed and how her body ended up behind the house, claiming her boyfriend has a long history of domestic violence.
Shereka Hill says her mother had rented an apartment in the house on Weld Street with her boyfriend up until two weeks ago.
Police are not calling McKnight's death a homicide.
"At this point, we're investigating the circumstances and all we're calling this is an unattended death investigation," Rochester Police Captain Michael Callari said on Tuesday.
Police are still waiting for the medical examiner's office to determine the cause of death.
