Police investigating shooting on city's northeast side

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Police are investigating a shooting that happened Wednesday evening on the city's northeast side.

According to police, officers responded to a report of a person shot at Carter and Chevalin Streets around 4:30 p.m. When officers arrived they did not find a victim.

However, a 19-year-old Rochester man showed up to Rochester General Hospital with a gunshot wound to his lower body, saying he was shot on Carter and Chevalin Streets, a short time later.

The man's injuries are said to be non-life threatening.

Rochester Police do not have any suspects in custody at the time. Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
